{"id":114,"date":"2016-08-17T01:06:02","date_gmt":"2016-08-17T09:06:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wp.evanyamoto.com\/?p=114"},"modified":"2016-08-17T01:06:02","modified_gmt":"2016-08-17T09:06:02","slug":"zoysia-sod","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/evanyamoto.com\/blog\/2016\/08\/17\/zoysia-sod\/","title":{"rendered":"Zoysia Sod"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We also re-did our back yard and put in some De Anza Zoysia sod from WestCoastTurf.com.<\/p>\n<p>I grew up in the hills of Berkeley, so we never had a lawn. \u00a0I did a lot of research and picked the Zoysia because it&#8217;s supposed to grow slowly and not require much water. \u00a0It&#8217;s also very dense and can be cut short, which I like. \u00a0And it&#8217;s an Asian grass so that goes well with the rest of our yard.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-111\" src=\"https:\/\/evanyamoto.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/IMG_2947-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"sod installed\" width=\"840\" height=\"630\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I raked and leveled our back yard a bunch of times before the sod was delivered. \u00a0I also installed a whole new sprinkler system before this, which I&#8217;ve also never done, so I was a little concerned if it was all going to work.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-109\" src=\"https:\/\/evanyamoto.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/IMG_2930-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"sod prep\" width=\"840\" height=\"630\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The sod came earlier in the morning and my wife and I got started right away. \u00a0It doesn&#8217;t look like it, but it was hot that day and I didn&#8217;t want it to dry out.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-110\" src=\"https:\/\/evanyamoto.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/IMG_2931-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"sod delivery\" width=\"840\" height=\"630\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It took the two of us almost all day and it was exhausting. \u00a0But it looked good that evening and even better two weeks later. \u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-112\" src=\"https:\/\/evanyamoto.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/IMG_2987-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"sod installed\" width=\"840\" height=\"630\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I also bought this reel mower made by Gardena. \u00a0It&#8217;s from Germany and there&#8217;s not much info on it, but it had good reviews. \u00a0Despite being an old school type mower, it&#8217;s really easy to use and cuts the grass really well.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-113\" src=\"https:\/\/evanyamoto.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/IMG_2988-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"gardena mower\" width=\"840\" height=\"630\" \/><\/p>\n<p>So we have a nice back yard now and it&#8217;s a great place for our two boys to grow up and play.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We also re-did our back yard and put in some De Anza Zoysia sod from WestCoastTurf.com.
