{"id":85,"date":"2011-03-29T22:34:56","date_gmt":"2011-03-30T06:34:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wp.evanyamoto.com\/?p=85"},"modified":"2011-03-29T22:34:56","modified_gmt":"2011-03-30T06:34:56","slug":"dogbaby-gate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/evanyamoto.com\/blog\/2011\/03\/29\/dogbaby-gate\/","title":{"rendered":"Dog\/Baby Gate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When we learned we we&#8217;re expecting, I already started worrying about safety. \u00a0Our condo had stairs that lead to the living room, so I made this gate. \u00a0I told everyone it was for our dog, but it was really for our son.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-77\" src=\"https:\/\/evanyamoto.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Gate-Finished-5-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"gate-finished-5\" width=\"840\" height=\"560\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s made from Douglas Fir. \u00a0It&#8217;s known as a cheap wood that&#8217;s hard to work with, but I think it looks really nice. \u00a0I like that straight grain and I picked knot free boards.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-86\" src=\"https:\/\/evanyamoto.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Wood-Sanded-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"wood sanded\" width=\"840\" height=\"560\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I sanded them smooth to avoid splinters and rounded every corner being an over-protective, soon-to-be parent.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-87\" src=\"https:\/\/evanyamoto.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Wood-Stained-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"wood stained\" width=\"840\" height=\"560\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I forgot what stain this is, but I want to say it was called Golden Pecan. \u00a0My memory is terrible though, so that could be completely wrong.<\/p>\n<p>We moved on from the condo and bought our house\u00a0when our son was 3. \u00a0He was working on the next milestone, so I cut up the old gate and made two of these potty step stools for him. \u00a0I also saw this on\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ana-white.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ana-White.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-78\" src=\"https:\/\/evanyamoto.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/IMG_1364-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"img_1364\" width=\"840\" height=\"630\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When we learned we we&#8217;re expecting, I already started worrying about safety. \u00a0Our condo had stairs that lead to the living room, so I made this gate. \u00a0I told everyone it was for our dog, but it was really for our son.
